For select residential clients, Manlove Engineering provides a range of consulting and design services to assist homeowners in the complicated process of purchasing or leasing a solar system to ensure that homeowners achieve the greatest return on investment and receive a properly designed and installed system.
Additionally, Manlove Engineering is available to provide consulting and design services to solar integrators and electrical contractors for residential projects requiring them.
The Dailey Residence is a representative sample of one of the hundreds of residential projects Mr. Manlove has overseen during his career.
Overview
As retirees on a fixed income, the owners of The Dailey Residence needed to plan and budget for their long term future expenses. An integral component of this plan was the cost of electricity. Concerned with the historic increases in energy costs, the Dailey’s wanted to take as much control as possible of their electric bill and generate their own power. With limited roof space available, the Dailey’s were able to install a 3.42 kW solar system that would generate nearly 20% of their electricity.
Engineering
Utilizing the home’s garage roof, the 3.42 kW solar system demonstrates that homeowners can generate their own power, reduce their homes operating cost, generate income and protect themselves from utility rate increases. Additionally, the all black solar modules maintained the home’s aesthetic value. The Dailey Residence project includes (18) Suntech Black Label solar modules connected to an SMA Sunny Boy inverter.
Benefits
Designed for maximum yield and optimum use of the limited area available, The Dailey Residence solar project reduces the utility bills of the home. Over a thirty year life, the solar system is expected to produce nearly 114,000 kWh of electricity. Additionally, the homeowners can closely track their investment through a web-based monitoring system from anywhere in the world.
Note: The Dailey Residence solar project was designed and constructed by Flexera, Inc. under the direction of Mr. Manlove during his tenure with the company. Mr. Manlove is the Professional Engineer of record for the project.
